It is expected that the VISN 7 GEC Leader will serve as a resource for the VA medical center's in VISN 7 to provide high quality services to the growing numbers of aging Veterans within the Southeastern United States. The incumbent serves as a full member of the Network governing body participating in discussions, decisions, and policy making. Managerial responsibilities include development of strategic plans and forecasting the requirements necessary for long range planning and model development specific to Geriatrics and Extended Care Programs/Services. The incumbent is also responsible for team building, budget and fiscal management, human resource management, public relations, continuous quality improvement, customer service, research and education, and organizational stewardship. The incumbent exercises initiative, considerable judgment, and independence of actions in accomplishing responsibilities. Within VISN 7, the incumbent is responsible for a continuum of Geriatric and Extended Care Services to include:

United States Citizenship:
Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Experience:
Facility- level GEC -service management or related experience of 2 or more years; Extensive record of leadership as a clinician and administrator; Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; Exceptional operational and financial management skills; Proven ability to promote innovation and inspire organizational excellence; Board certification in Geriatrics or a related specialty is also highly preferred. Moderate lifting (15-44 pounds); straight pulling (4 hours); pushing (4 hours); reaching above shoulder; use of fingers; both hands required; walking (2 hours); standing (7 hours); kneeling (1 hour); repeating bending (4 hours); both legs required; near vision correctable at 13 to 16 to Jaeger 1 to 4; far vision correctable in one eye to 20/50 and to 20/100 in the other; ability to distinguish basic colors; hearing (aid permitted); mental and emotional stability.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
