Position Responsibilities
Summary:
The Director of Nursing (DON) shall be a Registered Nurse (RN) who is responsible for the overall direction of home health clinical services. The DON has overall responsibility for the quality, adequacy of services provided and supervision of staff. The DON establishes, implements and evaluates goals and objectives for home health services that meet and promote the standards of quality. The DON assures that care is coordinated between services and that all of the client's needs are identified through the assessment process and addressed through the implementation of the Plan of Care and supervisory process.

The DON is responsible for the overall direction of home health clinical services, the quality and adequacy of services provided, supervision of staff and the coordination of care between services. The DON assures that all of the client's needs are identified and addressed.

Nursing:
Provides care as defined within the scope of the state's nurse practice act.
Provides those services requiring substantial and specialized nursing skill.
Makes the initial evaluation visit and regularly reevaluates the client's nursing needs.
Initiates the plan of care and makes necessary revisions.
Provides those services requiring substantial and specialized nursing skill.
Initiates appropriate preventive and rehabilitative nursing procedures.
Prepares clinical and progress notes and summaries of care.
Counsels the client and family in meeting nursing and related needs.
Informs the physician and other personnel of changes in the patient's condition and needs.
Stays informed about changes in the field of nursing and home health care; shares information with appropriate organization personnel.
Supervision:
Supervises, educates and coaches nursing personnel.
Assesses competency of clinical staff and ensures staff is assigned in a manner that promotes quality, continuity and safety of a client's care.
Plans and implements in-service and training programs.
Conducts performance evaluation of medical care-giving staff.
Identifies and participates in performance improvement activities.
Compliance:
Oversees the maintenance of client clinical records, statistics, reports and records for purposes of evaluation and reporting of organization activities.
Assures proper maintenance of clinical records in compliance with local, state and federal laws.
Assures compliance with all local, state and federal laws regarding licensure and certification of organization personnel.
Assists in the development of organization goals. Develops, recommends, and administers agency policies and procedures.
Community
Promotes home health referrals in the health care community.


Education/Certification Requirements:
Registered Nurse (RN) valid with current unencumbered licensure to practice professional nursing in the state in which the care is being provided.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Nursing. Must have graduated from a National League of Nursing accredited program.

Skills/Qualifications Requirements:
Minimum five (5) years of clinical experience with at least half of that time working in home health or related health care organization. Minimum three to five years of direct employee supervision.
Demonstrated ability to supervise and direct staff.

Travel Requirements:
Travel as needed for various staff and client care service needs.
Up to 10% or as directed based on the needs of the business and attending job required training and conferences.
Work Environment:
Office Environment: high-paced office/branch environment; continuous phone use/ringing; talking; various noise levels; interactions with employees and clients; sitting and standing for long periods of time; bending and stooping required; lifting up to 10 lbs. regularly and up to 50
lbs. may be required; using a computer for extended periods: typing, staring at a bright monitor or TV screen; using fingers, wrists, and arms; stress on back may occur; possible exposure to prescription drugs, bodily fluids, small appliances for cooking, cooling, and heating foods or securely storing medications.
Client's Environment: Unknown environments; bodily fluids, household and human germs; extreme cold or hot temperatures in or outside; light to heavy traffic; inclement weather; human body weights that vary based on client health and lifting as prescribed or needed per plan of care; 50
lbs.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
