com Job SummaryThe Vice President - Workforce Housing will be responsible for coordination of affordable and subsidized housing operations related to single family portfolios in a rapidly expanding platform with significant acquisition activity.
The VP - Workforce Housing will guide strategy for the growth of affordable housing for Second Avenue, including the coordination with housing authorities, setting of pricing and advertising strategies and adjusting approaches for effective management of homes The position will both manage a team of specialists as well as work alongside other Property Management senior leaders to create a culture of excellence in affordable housing operations.
The successful candidate will be the primary senior-level expert and thought leader within the Second Avenue organization as it relates to workforce, affordable, and subsidized housing.
The VP - Workforce Housing will report to the SVP of Leasing/Operations.
Duties and Responsibilities Develop and manage a team to oversee affordable housing efforts for the company; guide and coordinate internal efforts to maximize the potential for this sector for Second Avenue Obtain key comprehensive understanding of all Second Avenue property management departmental and individual business unit activity.
Establish and implement departmental processes, guidelines and goals relating to the operations, marketing, leasing, and customer service functions relating to workforce, affordable, and subsidized housing.
Recruit qualified team members and advise senior management on hiring decisions for market level and corporate operations.
Establish, develop, and enhance key relationships with housing authorities, governmental agencies, non-profits, and other applicable organizations that provide housing support, services, and conduct compliance activity relating to the operation of affordable single-family residential housing.
Create an impactful presence for the Second Avenue platform within the affordable housing industry through participation in industry associations, housing coalitions, networking, and establishing the organization as a successful leader in this sector of SFR housing.

QualificationsMinimum 5 years' property management experience in workforce, affordable, or subsidized housing as a Vice President or similar role.
Additional experience in market rate/conventional housing a plus.
Education and Experience Undergraduate degree in business administration, public administration, or related discipline.
Minimum 10 years' experience in managing workforce, affordable housing, and subsidized housing.
Working knowledge with respect to various components of subsidized housing - Section 8, LIHTC, Housing Choice, voucher programs, etc.
Working knowledge with respect to compliance requirements relating to affordable housing programs through HUD, local housing authorities, LIHTC, non-profits, and related organizations.
High-level relationship building experience with respect to working with HUD, housing authorities, non-profits, compliance authorities, and other related organizations.
Strong organizational and administrative skills.
Project Management experience a plus.
Industry certifications or designations relating to affordable housing a plus (e.
g.
, NAHP, COS).
Real Estate License(s) a plus.
Job Competencies Proven ability to establish, build, and maintain successful relationships with housing authorities, non-profits, government agencies, and compliance authorities.
Ability to recruit and manage operational property management teams across multiple states and markets.
Deep knowledge with respect to residential property management in workforce and affordable housing.
SFR knowledge a plus.
Strong ability to analyze, evaluate, prioritize, and develop effective business strategies.
Ability to execute business strategies successfully to achieve goals and KPIs.
Ability to quickly understand a diverse range of operational components relating to both centralized and field operational business activities.
Excellent communication and leadership capabilities.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Flexibility and the ability to quickly adapt to changing business needs and processes is essential.
Minimum 25% travel.
